About the Project
The project aims to consolidate a series of sites previously located in several cities in Belgium and the Netherlands. The location along the Albert Canal (and the E313 freeway) and not far from Antwerp, Europe's second largest seaport, was a major decision to achieve energy neutrality for the completed first phase and a project that creates more energy than is used for the second phase still in progress.
The NIKE European Logistics Campus has a wide variety of sustainable features, one of the most spectacular of which is the 1.3 km long green serpentine that runs along the western façade. Possibly the longest suspended green facade in the world, it provides 3,000 square meters of green facade that incorporates usable spaces for people, sun protection and hidden escape routes. The overall design focuses on three areas: fossil-free operations, closed-loop flows, and a healthy, biodiverse environment, creating an example of sustainability.
